As you can see, unless I am an expert in sleeping effectively — and I assure you, like many middle-aged women with teenagers, I am not — I spend no large chunk of any day doing tasks in which I have special skills.
My educational background in is English, writing, art history, medieval studies, and library science. I learned interesting, life-enhancing things in college and graduate school. I did not learn how to do my current job.
I live in Cleveland, Ohio, with a husband, three teenagers, three cats, and a budgie. We try our best to properly maintain a Victorian worker’s cottage, where we raise a lot of weeds and a few useful or ornamental plants on 1/4 acre of land.
